Common use of Union or Government Official Clause in Contracts

Union or Government Official. ‌ (a) Union Official - Full Time Upon written request to the Company made by the Union a reasonable period in advance, an employee certified by the Union to be a full-time Union official shall be granted a leave of absence without pay to engage in work pertaining to the business of the Union. The number of employees granted such leaves of absence shall not exceed four (4) at any time. For purposes of this Section, a full-time Union official shall be defined as an employee engaged full-time on international union business offsite; not an employee performing representational work for the bargaining unit on site in lieu of their regularly assigned work.
