Upon notification. the District shall grant a full-time employee bereavement leave with pay following a death in the family. Employees will be entitled to up to forty (40) hours of paid bereavement leave; provided that additional paid leave of up to twenty-four (24) hours may be approved where necessary to address special circumstances (e.g., long-distance travel, estate responsibilities, etc.).
