Western Interconnection. The geographic area containing the synchronously operated electric transmission grid in the western part of North America, which includes in the United States Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, as well as parts of Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, South Dakota, Texas, Wyoming, and Colorado; parts of the Canadian Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta; and Baja California Norte, Mexico.
