ASTM D2487 definition

ASTM D2487 means the American society for testing and material (ASTM) standard practice for classification of soils for engineering purposes, as that standard was approved on March 10, 2000.

Examples of ASTM D2487 in a sentence

  • On-site trench backfill analysis per ASTM D-2487, as directed by Engineer.

  • Backfill: Soil free of organics and debris and consisting of either GP, GW, SP, SW, or SM type, classified in accordance with ASTM D2487 and the USCS classification system.

  • The fill material shall be classified by ASTM D2487 as GW, GP, GM, GC, SW, SP, SW, SC or other material approved by the GRDA Project Engineer with a maximum liquid limit of 35, a maximum plasticity index of 12 and a maximum of 25 percent by weight passing a No. 200 sieve.

  • Soil Types GW, GP, SW, and SP are included in this class as specified in ASTM D2487.

  • Satisfactory soils shall be those of the type GW, GP, GM, SW, SM, SC, ML, and CL as defined by the ASTM D2487 soil classification group and free of rock greater than three inches in any dimension, debris, waste, frozen material, organic, or other deleterious material.

  • Classification in accordance with ASTM D2487 for each on-site or borrow soil material proposed for fill, backfill, engineered fill, or structural fill.

  • Soil and soil-like waste having fines content greater than 10 percent (10%) but less than or equal to thirty-five percent (35%) and medium to high plasticity per ASTM D2487 shall be disposed of in combination with other acceptable soil and soil-like material as specified in Table 103.

  • All samples will be evaluated for visual attributes (Munsell color and shell content), sieved in accordance with the applicable sections of ASTM D422-63 (Standard Test Method for Particle-Size Analysis of Soils), ASTM D1140 (Standard Test Method for Amount of Material in Soils Finer than No. 200 Sieve), and ASTM D2487 (Classification of Soils for Engineering Purposes), and analyzed for carbonate content.

  • Soil and soil-like waste having fines content greater than thirty-five percent (35%) and non-plastic to low plasticity per ASTM D2487 shall be disposed of in combination with other acceptable soil and soil-like material as specified in Table 103.

  • Soil Materials as summarized in the following table and defined in ASTM D2321 and ASTM D2487.
