If the Adjustment CPI exceeds Base CPI, the difference is the "CPI Increase." The CPI Increase shall be divided by the Base CPI and the numeral 1 shall be added to that quotient with the resulting number being the “CPI Index”.
The CPI for the month which is sixty three (63) months prior to the first month for which the increase is being calculated shall be the Base CPI for the purpose of the rent adjustment.
Such increase shall not exceed, as a percentage, one half (1/2) of the percentage by which the Current CPI Index increased from the Base CPI Index.
If such change is merely to redefine the base year for the CPIU from 1967 to another year, the parties shall continue to use the CPIU but shall, if necessary, convert either the Base CPI Index or the Current CPI Index to the same basis as the other by multiplying such index by the appropriate conversion factor.
