Examples of Category II nonfriable ACM in a sentence
To determine which requirements of paragraphs (a), (b), and (c) of this section apply to the owner or operator of a demolition or renovation activity and prior to the commencement of the demolition or renovation, thoroughly inspect the affected facility or part of the facility where the demolition or renovation operation will occur for the presence of asbestos, including Category I and Category II nonfriable ACM.
To determine which requirements of paragraphs (i)(i), (i)(ii), and (i)(iii) apply to the owner or operator of a demolition or renovation activity and prior to the commencement of the demolition or renovation, thoroughly inspect the affected facility or part of the facility where the demolition or renovation operation will occur for the presence of asbestos, including Category I and Category II nonfriable ACM.
RACM is defined in §61.141 of the NESHAP and includes: (1) friable asbestos-containing material; (2) Category I nonfriable ACM that has become friable; (3) Category I nonfriable ACM that has been or will be sanded, ground, cut, or abraded; or (4) Category II nonfriable ACM that has already been or is likely to become crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder.
Under NESHAP, asbestos-containing building materials are classified as either friable, Category I non-friable or Category II non-friable ACM.
Category II non-friable ACM is any material (other than Category I non-friable ACM), containing more than one percent asbestos, as determined by the above prescribed method, that, when dry, cannot be crumbled, pulverized, or reduced to powder by hand pressure.
