Excess officer definition

Excess officer means an officer who has been notified in writing by the head of service that he or she is excess to the Directorate's requirements because: (a) the officer is included in a class of officers employed in the Directorate, which class comprises a greater number of officers than is necessary for the efficient and economical working of the Directorate; or (b) the services of the officer cannot be effectively used because of technological or other changes in the work methods of the Directorate or changes in the nature, extent or organisation of the functions of the Directorate.
