Foster youth definition

Foster youth means any of the following:
Foster youth means a child who has been removed from their home pursuant to California Welfare and Institutions Code section 309 and/or is the subject of a petition filed under Welfare and Institutions Code section 300 or 602. This includes children who are the subject of cases in dependency court and juvenile justice court.
Foster youth means a person in the custody of the Department.

Foster youth means a foster child, as described in subdivision (a) of Section 48853.5, or a nonminor under the transition jurisdiction of the juvenile court, as described in Section 450 of the Welfare and Institutions Code, who satisfies all of the following criteria:

If the school the foster student attended when permanently housed is different from the school in which the foster student was last enrolled, or if there is some other school that the foster student attended with which the foster student is connected and that the foster student attended within the immediately preceding 15 months, the educational liaison, in consultation with, and with the agreement of, the foster student and the person holding the right to make educational decisions for the foster student, shall determine, in the best interests of the foster student, the school that shall be deemed the school of origin.
Foster youth means a person who is fifteen years of age or older who is a dependent of the department of social and health services; or a person who is at least fifteen years of age, but not more than twenty-three years of age, who was a dependent of the department of social and health services for at least twenty-four months after attaining thirteen years of age.
