After a discussion of the background of Carbon Footprint, this course discusses the various concepts of terminologies and provides a deeper understanding of the environmental standards, the standards related to Carbon Footprint, the use of Carbon Footprint in volunteer building certification programs such as LEED, Green Globes, BREEAM, etc.
The term “Green Standard” or words of similar import shall include the U.S. EPA’s Energy Star® rating, the Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes TM for Continual Improvement of Existing Buildings (Green GlobesTM-CIEB), the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), and/or a current and similar organization with equally rigorous environmentally and sustainable practices.
The Client will not be pursuing sustainability certification for the project (i.e., LEED, Green Globes, WELL, etc.).
Formal participation in sustainability based rating system/s at development option (e.g., LEED, Green Globes, etc.).
Tenant shall reasonably cooperate with any effort to obtain LEED, Green Globes, Energy Star (or similar) certification for the Building; provided that Tenant shall not be obligated to incur any additional cost or expense in connection therewith (other than a de minimis costs and expenses).
A/E shall remain liable for its own negligence and that of A/E’s Consultants, but A/E does not warrant or represent that the Project will actually achieve the desired Green Globes designation, as such designation is dependent in part on Owner’s Other Consultants and Construction Manager’s performance and the decisions of third parties.

If directed by the owner, the CM will take all necessary measures to insure new construction and renovation projects are constructed to comply with the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system, the Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes rating system, the Florida Green Building Coalition standards, or a nationally recognized high- performance green building rating system as approved by the Department of Management Services.
