Luminance definition

Luminance means a measure of the brightness of a luminous surface.
Luminance contrast means the brightness ratio between an object and its immediate background/surrounding that allows the object to be distinguished from its background/surroundings.
Luminance means the photometric measure of the luminous intensity per unit area of light travelling in a given direction, expressed in units of candelas per square metre (cd/m2). The term brightness is often used to subjectively qualify the luminance of a display;

More Definitions of Luminance

Luminance means the photometric measure of the luminous intensity per unit area of light traveling in a given direction, expressed in units of candelas per square meter (cd/m2);
Luminance means a measure of how bright an illuminated sign area appears to the human eye and is measured in candela/m2.
Luminance means the amount of light that passes through or is emitted from a particular area and falls
Luminance means an objective measurement of the brightness of illumination, including illumination emitted by an electronic sign, measured in candles per square foot (cd/ft2).
Luminance means the physical measure of the sensation of brightness expressed in candelas per metre squared (cd/m²).
Luminance means the amount of light that is emitted by or reflected from the surface of a sign; (0019-2024)
Luminance means the photometric measure of the luminous intensity per unit area of light travelling in a given direction. It describes the amount of light that passes through or is emitted from a particular area, and falls within a given solid angle. The unit for luminance is candela per square meter (cd/m2), also known as “nit”.
