Medical Foods means nutritional substances in any form that are: (a) formulated to be consumed or administered enterally under supervision of a physician; (b) specifically processed or formulated to be distinct in one or more nutrients present in natural food; (c) intended for the medical and nutritional management of patients with limited capacity to metabolize ordinary foodstuffs or certain nutrients contained in ordinary foodstuffs or who have other specific nutrient requirements as established by medical evaluation; and (d) essential to optimize growth, health, and metabolic homeostasis.
Medical Foods means nutritional substances in any form that are: (a) formulated to be consumed or administered enterally under supervision of a physician; (b) specifically processed or formulated to be distinct in one or more nutrients present in natural food; (c) intended for the medical and nutritional management of patients with limited capacity to metabolize ordinary foodstuffs

Medical Foods means enteral products that are specifically formulated to provide nutritional support for individuals with a qualifying condition when the use of conventional foods is precluded, restricted, or inadequate.
