Section 72 mandates the establishment of the National Health Research Ethics Council (NHREC), and stipulates that all RECs dealing with health research must be registered by the NHREC.
The Faculty of Health Sciences Research Ethics Committee (FHSREC) is tasked with the ethics of all health research and operates in terms of the National Health Act (Act 61 of 2003), the Code of Ethics for Research of the University of Pretoria, and the National Health Research Ethics Council.
