Net Metering Service means providing retail electric service to an agricultural net metering customer operating an agricultural renewable fuel generating facility or a net metering customer operating a renewable fuel generating facility and measuring the difference, over the net metering period, between the electricity supplied to the customer from the electric grid and the electricity generated and fed back to the electric grid by the customer.
Net Metering Service means measuring the difference, over the net metering period between electricity supplied to a net metering customer from the electric grid and the electricity generated and fed back to the electric grid by the net metering customer, using a single meter or, as provided in 20 VAC 5- 315-70, additional meters.

  • Net metering service is defined as service to an electric consumer under which electric energy generated by that electric consumer from an eligible on-site generating facility (e.g., solar or small generator) and delivered to local distribution facilities may be used to offset electric energy provided by the electric utility to the electric consumer during the applicable billing period.

The definition used for purposes of these regulations is identical to the definition of net energy metering in Section 56-594 B. except that Staff has added the words “using a single meter.” This is to clarify Staff’s position that the Act does not require more than one meter for net metering service1.
