Reasonable medical treatment definition

Reasonable medical treatment means treatment that is both medically necessary and offered for a condition that is causally related to the compensable work injury. As to the medically necessary component, the determination whether a treatment is reasonable should be based primarily on evidence establishing the likelihood that it will improve the patient’s condition, either by relieving symptoms and/or by maintaining or increasing functional abilities.
