Screening Value definition

Screening Value means the highest emission level that is recorded at each piece of equipment as it is monitored in compliance with Method 21.
Screening Value or “SV” means the instrument reading (ppmv) obtained when components, including but not limited to valves, pump seals, connectors, flanges, open-ended lines and other equipment components, are evaluated for leakage as described in United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) Method 21Determination of Volatile Organic Compound Leaks.
Screening Value means the highest emission level that is recorded at each piece of Covered Equipment subject to this Decree as it is monitored in compliance with Method 21;

Examples of Screening Value in a sentence

  • For industrial scenarios, the industrial EPA Regional Screening Value shall be used.

  • In the absence of a VSL, the EPA Regional Screening Value shall be used.

  • If, during monitoring or after installation, a Low-E Valve or a valve using Low-E Packing has a Screening Value at or above 500 ppm, the leak is not a violation of this Decree, does not invalidate the “Low-E” status or use of that type of valve or packing technology, and does not require replacing other, non-leaking valves or packing technology of the same type.

  • The impairment, as identified by the MassDEP, is related to the presence of the following pollutants, which were not considered to be present due to natural causes: Ammonia (Un-ionized); Dissolved Oxygen; Foam/Flocs/Scum/Oil Slicks; Petroleum Hydrocarbons; Taste and Odor; Fecal Coliform; PCB in Fish Tissue; Sediment Screening Value (Exceedence); and Other.

  • If, upon Repair Verification Monitoring, the Screening Value is greater than or equal to 500 ppm, Aux Sable shall undertake the requirements for repair required by this Consent Decree (and all deadlines for such requirements shall be based on the date of the failed Repair Verification Monitoring).
