The security badge will be issued upon the successful completion of a ten year (10) criminal history records check, and Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment and a training/testing program – all administered by Airport personnel.

Beginning December 11, 2006, all individuals applying for ID badges (new applicants) will need to bring to the Airport Security Division the Security Threat Assessment (STA) Form described above, and two forms of ID to support the STA form: A Driver’s License (or Military ID) plus a Birth Certificate, Passport, Alien Registration Card, or a visa card, form, or document showing eligibility to live and work in the United States.
DPS’ Ohio Homeland Security Threat Assessment and Prevention Unit processes any tips, when necessary, forwards them to local school and law enforcement officials, and tracks their disposition.
Once the Authorizing Signatory has completed the required procedures (i.e., fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)), Security Threat Assessment (STA) background check, SIDA training, Authorizing Signatory training, etc.) to receive his SAT badge, he will then be authorized to approve applications for other Contractor employees under his responsibility.
Under the requirements of Federal Security Directive 1542-04-8E, the Authority is submitting information from badge application forms to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) through the Transportation Security Clearinghouse so the TSA can perform a Security Threat Assessment (STA) in addition to the fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) the Authority is required to perform on all badge applicants.
