Stormwater detention definition

Stormwater detention means the process of temporarily impounding runoff and discharging it through a hydraulic outlet structure to a downstream conveyance system.
Stormwater detention means a provision for temporary storage of stormwater runoff, and the controlled release of such runoff during and after a flood or storm.
