More Definitions of Surface casing

Surface casing means a large diameter casing string set in shallow, yet competent, formations used to protect groundwaters, provide sufficient structural integrity to bear the weight of subsequent casing strings, and pressure integrity to contain the pressures anticipated to the next casing point.
Surface casing means the casing string or strings used primarily for protecting fresh water or mineralized water resources from potential contamination during the drilling and operation of an oil or gas well, or both.
Surface casing means a pipe or tube used as a lining in a well to isolate the fresh water zone from the well.
Surface casing means a pipe or tube used as a lin- ing in a well to isolate the fresh water zone from the well.
Surface casing means any casing placed in the well bore for the purpose of protecting fresh water strata and other reservoir rock, and/or for the prevention of the invasion of fresh water into the well bore.
Surface casing means a steel or steel alloy string of pipe set and cemented in the well to a depth sufficient to isolate and seal off all zones containing protected water, and which supports the installation of well control equipment that can be fully shut in and otherwise maintain pressure control of the well while drilling to a deeper depth.
Surface casing means casing to cover unconsolidated formations, to provide protection against shallow gas flow, seal off water bearing formations, protect fresh water sands from contamination, case-off lost circulations zones and to provide structural support for the well head.
