Taximeter definition

Taximeter means any device for calculating the fare to be charged in respect of any journey in a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle by reference to the distance travelled or time elapsed since the start of the journey, or a combination of both; and
Taximeter means any instrument, appliance, device, or machine by which the charge for hire of a passenger-carrying vehicle is calculated, either for distance traveled or time consumed, or a combination of both, and upon which such charge is indicated by figures. Includes both a Hard Meter and a Soft Meter.
Taximeter means a meter instrument or device attached to a taxicab which measures mechanically the distance driven and the waiting time upon which the fare is based.
