Underground Work definition

Underground Work means any undertaking in which operations are conducted for the purpose of extracting any substance from below the surface of the earth, the ingress to and egress from which is by means of shafts, adits or natural caves;
Underground Work means work performed during underground excavation that includes drilling, blasting, guniting and/or rock bolting.
Underground Work means work performed during active underground excavation which includes drilling, blasting, guniting, rock bolting or soft soil work. Once this work is certified complete and safe by the engineer of record, work will no longer be considered Underground Work.

  • The coming into force of this Convention shall not close the Minimum Age (Sea) Convention (Revised), 1936, the Minimum Age (Industry) Convention (Revised), 1937, the Minimum Age (Non-Industrial Employment) Convention (Revised), 1937, the Minimum Age (Fishermen) Convention, 1959, or the Minimum Age (Underground Work) Convention, 1965, to further ratification.

  • The most relevant to women are the Convention on Underground Work (Women) (No. 45) and the Convention on Employment Policy (No. 122), Conventions on Maternity Protection (Revised) (No. 103), Discrimination in Employment and Occupation (No. 111), Equal Remuneration (No. 100) and on Minimum Age (No. 138).

  • Such understanding has been adopted and established both in the practice in Bulgaria and in the practice of the International Labour Organization (Convention No. 45 concerning the Employment of Women on Underground Work in Mines of All Kinds, 1935).

  • The coming into force of this Convention shall not close the Minimum Age (Sea) Convention (Revised), 1936, the Minimum Age (Industry) Convention (Revised), 1937, the Minimum Age (Non- Industrial Employment) Convention (Revised), 1937, the Minimum Age (Fishermen) Convention, 1959, or the Minimum Age (Underground Work) Convention, 1965, to further ratification.

  • The only exception was the chapter on mining, which expires on the date when Ukraine completes the denunciation procedure of the Convention concerning the Employment of Women on Underground Work in Mines of all Kinds № 45.

  • In 2009, Viet Nam submitted reports on the implementation of seven Conventions (including Conventions No. 29 (1930); No. 45 (1935) concerning Underground Work (Women); No. 81 (1947) concerning Labour Inspection; No. 120 (1964) concerning Hygiene (Commerce and Offices); No. 138 (1973); No.155 (1981) concerning Occupational Safety and Health; and No. 182 (1999).

  • In 2009, Viet Nam reported to ILO on the implementation of the seven Conventions that the country has acceded to (Conventions No. 29 (1930); No. 45 (1935) concerning Underground Work (Women), No. 81 (1947) concerning Labour Inspection in Industry and Commerce; No. 120 (1964) concerning Hygiene (Commerce and Offices), No. 138 (1973) concerning Minimum Age for Admission to Employment; No. 155 (1981) concerning Occupational Safety and Health; and No. 182 (1999).

  • PNG has ratified a total of 19 International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions, and yet, with the exception of the Convention on Underground Work (Women) (No.45) and the Convention on Employment Policy (No 122), none of these are relevant to women.

Related to Underground Work

  • Underground tank means a device meeting the definition of tank whose entire surface area is totally below the surface of and covered by the ground.

  • Underground area means an underground room, such as a basement, cellar, shaft or vault, providing enough space for physical inspection of the exterior of the tank situated on or above the surface of the floor.

  • Underground storage tank or “UST” means any one or combination of tanks (including underground pipes connected thereto) that is used to contain an accumulation of regulated substances, and the volume of which (including the volume of underground pipes connected thereto) is 10 percent or more beneath the surface of the ground. This term does not include any:

  • Underground facility means any item which shall be buried or placed below ground for use in connection with the storage or conveyance of water, sewage, electronic, telephone or telegraphic communications, electric energy, oil, gas or other substances, and shall include, but not be limited to pipes, sewers, conduits, cables, valves, lines, wires, manholes, attachments and those portions of poles and their attachments below ground.

  • Underground storage tank system means an underground storage tank and the connected underground piping, underground ancillary equipment, and containment system, if any.

  • Underground injection means the subsurface emplacement of fluids through a bored, drilled or driven well; or through a dug well, where the depth of the dug well is greater than the largest surface dimension. (See also “injection well”.)

  • Underground mining means all methods of mining other than surface mining.

  • Underground storage means storage of hazardous liquid in a subsurface stratum or formation of the earth.

  • Aboveground storage tank shall have the meaning ascribed to such term in Section 6901 et seq., as amended, of RCRA, or any applicable state or local statute, law, ordinance, code, rule, regulation, order ruling, or decree governing aboveground storage tanks.

  • Aboveground tank means a device meeting the definition of tank that is situated in such a way that the entire surface area of the tank is completely above the plane of the adjacent surrounding surface and the entire surface area of the tank (including the tank bottom) is able to be visually inspected.

  • Excavation work means the making of any man-made cavity, trench, pit or depression formed by cutting, digging or scooping;

  • drainage work means any construction or reconstruction of or any alteration or addition to, or any work done in connection with a drainage installation but shall not include any work undertaken solely for purposes of repair or maintenance;

  • Site Improvements means any construction work on, or improvement to, streets, roads, parking facilities, sidewalks, drainage structures and utilities.

  • Hazardous substance UST system means an UST system that contains a hazardous substance defined in section 101(14) of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980 (but not including any substance regulated as a hazardous waste under subtitle C) or any mixture of such substances and petroleum, and which is not a petroleum UST system.

  • Project Site(s) means the place(s) specified in the SCC for the supply and installation of the System.

  • Storage tank means an aboveground storage tank or underground storage tank as defined by this Regulation.

  • piece-work means any work the pay for which is estimated by the amount of work performed irrespective of the time occupied in its performance;

  • Surface impoundment or "impoundment" means a facility or part of a facility which is a natural topographic depression, man-made excavation, or diked area formed primarily of earthen materials (although it may be lined with man-made materials), which is designed to hold an accumulation of liquid wastes or wastes containing free liquids, and which is not an injection well. Examples of surface impoundments are holding, storage, settling, and aeration pits, ponds, and lagoons.

  • Private Improvements means the improvements to be constructed on the Property that are not Public Improvements.

  • Landlord Work means the work, if any, that Landlord is obligated to perform in the Premises pursuant to a separate agreement (the “Work Letter”), if any, attached to this Lease as Exhibit C.

  • Contaminated site means a site where there is a confirmed presence, caused by man, of hazardous substances of such a level that they pose a significant risk to human health or the environment taking into account current and approved future use of the land;

  • Underground source of drinking water means an aquifer or its portion:

  • Tenant Improvement Work means the construction of the Tenant Improvements, together with any related work (including demolition) that is necessary to construct the Tenant Improvements.

  • The Works/Project means the works to be executed or done under this contract.

  • Constructed wetlands means areas intentionally designed and created to emulate the water quality improvement function of wetlands for the primary purpose of removing pollutants from stormwater.

  • aerial work means an aircraft operation in which an aircraft is used for specialised services such as agriculture, construction, photography, surveying, observation and patrol, search and rescue, and aerial advertisement;
