This work aims to extend and deconstruct the views on the activity of prostitution, so stigmatized in our society, living a contradiction in Brazil as it is considered a profession by the Ministry of Labour, but is completely forgotten by politics and law, only prohibits the activities of pimps and brothel owners. This analysis about prostitution aims to discuss how Brazilian law and other countries deal with the situation, aims to question the problems of this activity through a feminist approach, and finally, to advance in the discussion about the best solution that must be taken by the state aiming to ensure more safety and improvement of living standards for the women who have this kind of occupacion, this is made through a historical retrieval, comparison of legislation, presentation of jurisprudence and observation of researches and publications by different authors.
