1c Procedure for Use of Sick Leave for Less. than One-Half the Normal Scheduled Workday Bargaining unit members should make arrangements outside the normal scheduled workday for medical appointments whenever possible. Covering an assignment during such absence may be difficult in some situations, and in some cases it may be necessary to employ an external substitute. Since external substitutes are usually employed for a half-day minimum, it may be necessary for a bargaining unit member to take a one-half (1/2) day of sick leave for such absence. Sick leave or absences for medical appointments of less than one-half (1/2) the normal scheduled workday shall be handled as follows:
