Academy Approaches. In 2008, the Mayor set out a clear vision for the programme in that no student would leave their academy and end up NEET. The academies have taken individual approaches to developing and delivering their offer, but with the same o verall objectives and emphasis on tracking the destination outcomes of each student leaving their academy at the end of yr 11, yr 12 or yr 13. The evaluation will capture the different approaches to embedding the careers guidance offer into the curriculum and draw conclusions that can support the LAET academies in improving their programmes, and inform future GLA programmes and other London schools. We aim to understand which interventions work best in order that these practices can be shared and replicated. The Enfield academies (Nightingale and Xxxxxxx) were the first to be funded in 2010. The GLA grant of £800,000 contributed to 50% of the funding for 3 members of staff for the first 3 years of the project. Bexleyheath Academy was awarded £350,000 in 2012, which contributed to 50% of the funding for 2 members of staff over the first 2 years of the project. The remainder of the across the 3 academies supported a range of interventions for students and parents and local adults. Xxxxxxxx Academy opened i n April 2013 and introduced their new careers guidance programme to their students in January 2014. From October 2013, the project delivery model was changed, with the introduction of a Director of Pathways and Partnerships, who has responsibility for th e overall programme strategy and its implementation across the four academies. This post is funded 100% by the GLA grant. The project delivery model at academy level has been mainstreamed, and the remaining bulk of the GLA grant is used to fund careers gui dance interventions.
