Accrual During Leave Without Pay. (a) Retirement credit for periods of leave without pay shall be governed by the rules of the retirement plan, University policy and state law. (b) While on leave without pay, the employee shall retain accumulated sick leave and annual leave, but shall not accrue sick leave or annual leave nor be entitled to holiday pay. (c) An employee’s request for the use of accrued leave during a period of leave without pay shall be made at the time of the employee’s request for the leave without pay. Such request shall include the amount of accrued leave the employee wishes to use during the approved period of leave without pay. If circumstances arise during the approved leave which causes the employee to reconsider the combination of leave with and without pay, the employee may request approval of revisions to the original approval.
