Common use of Appearances Clause in Contracts

Appearances. (a) When an employee participates during scheduled hours in an arbitration proceeding or in a grievance meeting between the grievant, grievant's counsel or UFF representative and the University, that employee's compensation shall neither be reduced nor increased for time spent in those activities. (b) Prior to participation in any such proceedings, conferences, or meetings, the employee shall make arrangements acceptable to the appropriate supervisor for the performance of the employee's duties. Approval of such arrangements shall not be unreasonably withheld. Time spent in such activities outside scheduled hours shall not be counted as time worked.
