Common use of Apprenticeships Clause in Contracts

Apprenticeships. In a similar way to SMEs, there is an overarching government policy for public sector organisations to promote the creation and use of apprenticeship schemes, as per the Government Construction Strategy 2016, the Construction Sector Deal and Construction 2025. In particular, a 2015 Procurement Policy Note describes the steps that public sector organisations must take to ensure they are meeting the government’s apprentice aims. This Boilerplate provides a way for Clients to ensure that Contractors do this by creating an obligation to employ certain amounts of apprentices. They must also provide further training opportunities and information about the Government Apprenticeship programme, and engage with the Project Manager to review and discuss a number of measures relating to Apprenticeships.
