Association Leave and Released Time. a. The President of the MCEA or his or her designee(s) shall be released from regular duties without loss of salary for the purpose of participating in area or regional meetings, workshops, or conferences of the Association for not more than an aggregate of eight (8) days per year, but no more than two (2) bargaining unit members may be released under this provision at any one time. The Association will pay the cost of substitutes. b. The duly elected President of the MCEA may use non-instructional time for Association business so long as it does not interfere with the performance of the President's teaching duties. The President shall not leave his school building for such purpose without first notifying his building principal. c. An employee engaged during the school day in negotiating on behalf of the Association with any representative of the Board or participating in any professional grievance negotiation, including arbitration, shall be released from regular duties without loss of salary.
