Attrition and Suspension. 1. The number of persons afforded by a layoff will be kept to a minimum by not employing replacements for employees who die, retire, or resign. 2. Layoffs which cannot be achieved through attrition shall be made by suspension of contracts. 3. A limited contract expiring in the calendar year in which the reduction occurs which would otherwise have been renewed shall be renewed in order to provide the teacher involved the rights provided for under this article.
