Common use of Birthing Parent Clause in Contracts

Birthing Parent. The birthing parent may take up to six (6) consecutive calendar weeks of parental leave immediately following the birth of her child. The Board recognizes that the granting of parental leave does not preclude a birthing parent from use of otherwise authorized sick leave. After such accumulated sick leave has been exhausted, however, this leave shall be considered a leave without regular pay. All benefits due to the employee under his or her most recent employment status shall be paid. It is the responsibility of the employee to pay her share of benefit costs on a quarterly basis. Teachers granted this leave shall be advanced on the salary schedule.
