Common use of Calendar and Work Year Clause in Contracts

Calendar and Work Year. a. The school year for teachers shall be consistent with Article XVI - Work Year. b. The school year for MTYRSs shall be from July 1 through June 30 of any year for the purposes of aligning decisions with the fiscal year. c. The work year configuration shall be determined by a collaborative process established at each school. i. For new schools without existing School Community Councils (SCCs), a Xxxxxxxx process will be established to include teachers. Teachers will participate in all decisions related to the establishment of the school including calendar year and calendar configuration. ii. For existing schools, teachers will decide by a two-thirds (2/3) vote on a specific work year configuration from the options provided by the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education (DOE). iii. The Association Policy Committee (APC) shall support teacher participation in the implementation of the MTYRSs. iv. Teachers working a modified school year (e.g., 12-month Teachers) will be notified of the nature and terms of the modification in writing. v. Teachers shall report for work four (4) days prior to the beginning of their first assignment for the year, but no earlier than July 1. The four
