Student Medication. Under no circumstances will employees be required to administer medication to students; however, those employees who voluntarily assist in self-administered medication or provide emergency assistance to students within the scope of their employment will be indemnified as provided in Article III, §J of this Agreement. The District and the Association recognize that health clerks do voluntarily assist in self-administered medication within the scope of their employment.
Student Medication. If requested by the parent and/or guardian, a bus driver and/or bus aide shall transport student medication to school. In no instance except in an emergency shall medication be administered on the bus by a bus driver and/or bus aide.

Except in emergency situations, teachers will only be required to administer medication to students (including supervision of self-administration) after the following conditions have been met: a. The medication is required while the student is attending school. b. The student's parent(s) or legal guardian(s) has requested the school's assistance and signed a written release absolving the Board of Education, the school and the teacher(s) in question from any and all liability arising from the administration of the medication. c. Written authorization has been received from the student's attending physician. d. The School District 8 “Request for Medication at School Form”, must be completed for the administration of emergency or ongoing medications. e. The teacher has received adequate training from the Public Health Nurse concerning the administration of the medication.
Student Medication. Except in emergency situations, teachers should administer (or supervise the self- administration of) medications to pupils only if the following conditions are met:
Student Medication. Bargaining unit members are not required to administer or dispense prescription or non-prescription medication to students. However, bargaining unit members may provide assistance to students in an emergency situation such as by administering medication, and may dispense or make medication available to a student for student self-administration provided a completed and signed School Medication Authorization Form is on file. No reprisals shall be taken by the Board against any member who chooses to not administer or dispense medication. Consistent with its obligations under the School Code, if a bargaining unit member chooses to administer or dispense medication to a student, the Board shall insure, defend, and indemnify bargaining unit members against damages sought for negligent or wrongful acts related to the administration or dispensing of medication to students. Whenever a bargaining unit member volunteers to dispense medication or make medication available to a student for self-administration, such action shall be deemed in the scope of the bargaining unit member’s employment.

Student Medication. Pupils shall be referred to designated medical personnel for the dispensing of medications.
Student Medication. Student medication procedures in district schools shall be as follows: a. employees have a duty to render assistance in an emergency; b. employees shall not be called on to administer medication on a regular or predictable basis; c. the Board shall establish policies that require schools to establish systems for administering medication after consulting with parents, family physicians, the Public Health Nurse and the Medical Health Officer; d. the administration of medication shall be the responsibility of appropriate health personnel except for those mature students capable of, and trained in, self- administration.
Student Medication. Employees covered by this Agreement shall not be called upon to administer medication or administer other medical procedures on a regular basis unless: (a) the employee volunteers to administer the medication procedure; and (b) written authorization and instructions for administration of medication has been received from the student's attending physician confirming that medication is required while the student is attending school; and (c) the student's parent or guardian has made a written request for the School's assistance and has discussed the situation with School Administration; and, if necessary, (d) adequate instruction and training has been received from a qualified health care professional. The Society shall indemnify and save harmless any employee against claims arising from the administration of medication, supervision of self-administration, or performance of medical or physical procedures that are carried out pursuant to the instructions and requests received as referred to in this Article.
