Casual Rates of Pay. 8.1 An employee engaged as a casual will be paid a 25 per cent casual loading in addition to the appropriate hourly rate of pay specified in Schedule 1. 8.2 Where a casual is working shift work the casual loading percentage will be added to the shift penalty and then applied to the base rate of pay. For example, a casual employee working rotating shifts will be paid a total penalty of 35 per cent for day shift and 40 per cent for night shift. 8.3 The casual loading will not be paid for any period of overtime. 8.4 Casual employees will not have access to any form of paid leave, other than Long Service Leave, and will not be paid for a public holiday unless they work on that day.
