Conditions for Granting Leave. Leave of absence without pay may be granted 10 upon filing an application showing reasons, which are deemed sufficient, subject to 11 the following conditions: 13 a. An employee who has been granted a leave for thirty (30) days or more shall 14 complete one (1) year of service before a second leave will be granted, except 15 as otherwise provided. 17 b. Leave of absence shall not be granted for more than twelve (12) consecutive 18 calendar months, with the following exceptions: 19 20 (1) Leave of absence for military service shall be granted as provided in 21 the Education Code and the Military and Veterans Code. 22
