Conversion at Death in the Line of Duty. In the event of an in-the-line-of-duty death, the employee’s estate will be paid one hundred percent (100%) of the accumulated, unused sick leave using the procedure and formula in section 26.6, conversion at retirement.

Conversion at Death in the Line of Duty. In the event an employee’s death is a result of illness or injury sustained in the performance of his or her regular duties, the employee’s spouse or estate shall be paid the employee’s accrued but unused sick leave to a maximum of one thousand (1,000) hours. Additionally, the “ten (10) years of continuous service” requirement shall not apply.
