Common use of Credit for Unused Sick Leave Clause in Contracts

Credit for Unused Sick Leave. The unused accumulated sick leave for any employee at the time of their retirement in accordance with the provisions of the Public Employee’s Retirement Law, as amended, may be converted to additional service credit at the rate of .004 year of service credit for each day of unused sick leave (i.e., 250 days of sick leave equals one additional year of service credit). If an eligible employee chooses the sick leave pay-off in Section 12.5, the remaining balance of the employee’s accumulated sick leave shall be converted to service credit.
