Common use of Critical Incident Stress Clause in Contracts

Critical Incident Stress. (a) In cases of a critical incident, if the employee determines that they are unable to complete the remainder of their shift as a result of the impact of the incident, they will inform their on-shift manager/supervisor and will be granted leave for the remainder of their shift, without penalty or loss of pay. (b) The Employer will provide critical incident stress debriefing/ defusing to employees as required. (c) Employees requiring critical incident stress debriefing/defusing shall suffer no loss of pay while attending CIS sessions. (d) Following a critical incident, if the employee determines that they require a break period, a minimum of one (1) hour of out-of-service time will be guaranteed following completion of the incident and/or clearing of the hospital without penalty or loss of pay. Revised Collective Agreement Language MOU # 1 is moved into the Collective Agreement as Article 21.27.
