Common use of Damage to Personal Items Clause in Contracts

Damage to Personal Items. The Employer agrees that bargaining unit employees may submit to the Employer requests for reimbursement for any personal items damaged in the performance of assigned duties up to a maximum of one hundred fifty dollars ($150.00) per occurrence for bargaining unit members of the Department of Natural Resources and to the maximum set in Chapter 80.18 of the Code of Iowa for officers of the Department of Public Safety. The Employer agrees that bargaining unit employees may submit requests to the State Appeal Board for claims denied by the Employer or which are in excess of the amount set in the previous paragraph. Such requests will be granted or denied in accordance with the applicable law. If the State Appeal Board requires that requests be submitted on special forms, the Employer will make such forms available to the employees. The employee’s immediate supervisor may at his/her discretion certify that personal items were lost or damaged in the performance of the employee’s assigned duty. The Employer shall make a good faith effort to expedite the claims submitted pursuant to this Section.
