Definition of a Day and Work Day. (a) 7 Hour Shifts A day is a twenty-four (24) hour period beginning with the start of the employee’s shift. The basic work day is seven (7) consecutive hours of work in the twenty-four (24) hour period, broken only by the established lunch period. (b) 7 1 2 Hour Shifts A day is a twenty-four (24) hour period beginning with the start of the employee’s shift. The basic work day is seven and one half (7 ½) consecutive hours of work in the twenty-four (24) hour period, broken only by the established lunch period.
