Definition of Solo Roles. In addition to the per-performance rates specified in Articles 2.1 and 2.2, PROFESSIONAL CHORISTERS may be offered solos as specified in Article 9. 1. When choristers are utilized for solos, PROFESSIONAL CHORISTERS shall be used. When choristers are utilized for group solos, SYMPHONY shall offer such solos first to PROFESSIONAL CHORISTERS. In the event that no PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER accepts or is available to perform such solo, then the solo may be offered to a volunteer chorister. SYMPHONY may not compensate a PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER less than the applicable rate associated with the solo category specified at the time of the audition. SYMPHONY may not cast a PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER for a solo without audition. SYMPHONY will categorize solos according to the following parameters: a) Symphony shall notify AGMA at the time of audition whether PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER will be required to sing all or part of the choral music for the same production. In the event the PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER is not required to sing all or part of the choral music of the same production, the PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER will be replaced, and PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER will receive a standard SFS Artist contract and be compensated at a rate not less than section (b) below. If no replacement can be found, then SYMPHONY and AGMA will meet to come to a mutually-agreeable resolution for how to address the total value of that PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER’s contract for that production. b) PROFESSIONAL CHORISTERS singing solos shall be compensated as follows: i) MAJOR ROLE (100+ bars): 300% performance rate per performance ii) MINOR ROLE (84-99 bars): 200% performance rate per performance iii) MAJOR SOLO (24-83 bars): 150% performance rate per performance iv) MINOR SOLO (13-23 bars): 75% performance rate per performance v) SMALL SOLO (1-12 bars): 50% performance rate per performance c) Any parts which are assigned to fewer than six (6) but more than one (1) singer per vocal part shall be considered group solos and will be compensated at a rate as Follows: i) (100+ bars): 75% performance rate per performance ii) (84-99 bars): 50% performance rate per performance iii) (24-83 bars): 37.5% performance rate per performance iv) (13-23 bars): 18.75% performance rate per performance v) (1-12 bars): 12.5% performance rate per performance d) SYMPHONY will compensate a PROFESSIONAL CHORISTER who is individually amplified or physically isolated from the larger chorus at fifteen percent (15%) of the performance rate for...
