Department Head Pay. Department head status is an assignment of instructional supervisory and management responsibility from administration. Administration has sole authority to assign or remove department head duties. 1. A teacher or instructor with a regular daily instructional assignment and assigned department head duties shall receive additional compensation equivalent to one step (3.7%) higher than their normal step placement, and will be paid for five (5) additional work days. 2. If the department head is responsible for supervising a combination of five (5) or more teachers or instructors and others employed by the State and has a full-time instructional assignment, s/he shall receive additional compensation equivalent to one step (3.7%) higher than his or her normal step placement, and will be paid for ten (10) additional work days.
