Determining Wage Rates for Various Personnel Actions. A. The Employer shall determine the starting wage for any new hire in its sole discretion. B. The Employer shall determine the wage for any promotion of an Employee covered by this Agreement. Upon promotion, the Employee shall receive a minimum increase of five percent (5%) effective on the date of the promotion. C. When an Employee’s position is reclassified and the reclassification results in a reduction in pay, the Employee’s current pay rate shall not be reduced. If it is reclassified and the reclassification results in a pay increase, the Employee’s wage rate shall be determined consistent with paragraph B above. D. When an Employee applies for and is hired into a different position with the City at a lower pay rate, the Employee’s wage shall be reduced. The Employer and the Employee shall determine the pay rate for the transferred position. E. The Employer shall notify the Union in writing within thirty (30) days after any personnel action is taken under this Section.
