Dry docks’ Side Walls. (1) The dry docks’ side walls consist of ‘L’ shaped cantilever walls with the toes projecting into the dry dock. The rear of the walls and bottom of the toes only are reinforced. The wall base slab shall be cast in lengths not exceeding 10m. The dock walls may be cast in full height from the top of the base slab to the underside of the cope structure. The dock face wall shall be cast in lengths not exceeding 10m. The dock walls are not designed to be resistant to sliding with full earth or water pressure against them if the dock floor slab is not present. Backfilling shall be not permitted, therefore, above the base slab until the corresponding section of floor slab is completed from wall to wall. CONTRACTOR shall plan his construction in such a way that stability is maintained throughout the construction.
