EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT AND TRAINING. A. Employee Initiated Requests 1. Reimbursement for all or part of costs incurred for career improvement training or education may be obtained, provided that the training or education is job related, has prior written approval of the Employer, and the Employer determines that fiscal resources for training and education are available. 2. Career improvement training or educational opportunity approved by the Employer of less than ten (10) working days duration shall normally be at no loss of annual leave or pay. The Department will determine the appropriate lengths of time for certifications for recurrent parties recognize that some work assignments may represent training classes, and enhance advancement opportunities. The parties agree that such as CPR and firearms qualifications, and publish that information. A copy of this material work assignments will be furnished based on the needs of the Employer and made in a manner that provides opportunities to the Association. The Department is responsible for updating lesson plans and furnishing a copy to the appropriate personnel providing the trainingbargaining unit members based on merit.

The recommendations shall be forwarded to the Director and the Association.

1The Employer, under this Agreement, recognizes the respective career disciplines that exist within this bargaining unit and the employees' desire to keep current in their fields as well as further their career levels and capabilities. The Department will endeavor to update the Academy schedule on a semi-annual basis. The Association will be furnished a copy of the schedule at the time of each posting. E. Upon application for other State classifications, employees may receive credit for attending job related State-sponsored training.
F. The Department parties will determine meet and confer on methods for ensuring that all supervisors have access to training sponsored by the appropriate lengths of time for certifications for recurrent Supervisory Training Program Labor-Management Committee.
G. Union-sponsored training classes, such as CPR and firearms qualifications, and publish that information. A copy of this material will be furnished to considered as hours of work towards fulfillment of the Associationworkweek defined in Article 25.1, but will not count toward overtime premium pay for those eligible employees.
