Effect of Classification Changes on Employees. Whenever a position is reclassified from one class to another class, the employee shall remain in the position with the same benefits and credit for service as he/she had in the position prior to its reclassification, except as noted below: a. Whenever a position is reclassified from one class to a higher class, the employee shall be promoted and continue in the position only if he/she possesses the minimum qualifications for the higher class and thereafter successfully completes a three-month trial service period for the higher class b. Whenever a position is reclassified from one class to a lower class, the employee shall not be paid less than his/her present salary, but any future increases shall be made pursuant to policies for employees whose wages are considered frozen. A reclassification downgrade shall not be considered as a demotion.
