Eligibility of candidates. Candidates for the SRO assignment will be selected from the Patrol Division and will have a minimum of five (5) years of service with the East Providence Police Department at the time of appointment. Although five (5) years of service is required at the time of appointment, Officers who have completed three (3) years of service with the East Providence Police Department may apply for this assignment. This selection process will take place starting on June 1st of each year and the officers selected by August 1st of each year, so a change is not made during the school year. The eligible selection list for SROs shall be valid for two (2) years.
