Emergency Leave -- Sickness in Immediate Family. Leave of absence with pay because of sickness or injury in the immediate family of an employee in the County service shall be granted by the Agency/Department Head for up to 5 days per calendar year to care for immediate family member or during the time reasonably necessary to arrange for care of the sick person by others, including emergency medical and dental appointments, but not to exceed the amount of time which the employee would be authorized for sick leave in subsection 14.D. Time taken for leave of absence under the provisions of this subsection shall be deducted from the sick leave allowable for such person. For the purpose of this subsection, "immediate family" means, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner upon submission of a written affidavit for domestic partnership as defined in the appendices, son, stepson, daughter, stepdaughter, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and grandparents.
