Emergency Leave -- Sickness in Immediate Family. Leave of absence with pay because of sickness or injury in the immediate family of a person in the County service shall be granted by the Agency/Department Head for up to five (5) days per calendar year to care for immediate family members or during the time reasonably necessary to arrange for care of the sick person by others, including emergency medical and dental appointments but not to exceed the amount of time which the person would be authorized for sick leave in Subsection D, above. Time taken for leave of absence under the provisions of this Subsection shall be deducted from the sick leave allowable for such person. For the purpose of this Subsection, "immediate family" means, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner, (upon submission of an affidavit as defined in Appendix C), son, step-son, daughter, step-daughter, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, mother-in-law, father-in-law or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and grandparents.
