Emergency Leave -- Sickness in Immediate Family. Leave of absence with pay because of sickness or injury in the immediate family of a person in the County service shall be granted by the Agency/Department Head during the time reasonably necessary to arrange for care of the sick person by others, including emergency medical and dental appointments, but not to exceed the amount of time which the person would be authorized for sick leave in subsection D. and may be granted under subsection E. above. Time taken for leave of absence under the provisions of this subsection shall be deducted from the sick leave allowable for such person. For the purpose of this subsection, "immediate family" means, mother, stepmother, father, stepfather, husband, wife, domestic partner (as defined in Appendix B upon submission of a written affidavit for domestic partner as defined in Appendix B or a notarized Declaration of Domestic Partnership, Form DP-1, filed with the California Secretary of State), son, step son, daughter, step daughter, xxxxxx parent, xxxxxx child, or any other person sharing the relationship of in loco parentis; and, when living in the household of the employee, a brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in- law, father-in-law, and grandparents.
