The second part of the split sample must also be sent to a certified federal lab. The cost for testing the second part of the original sample is to be paid by the employee prior to conducting the split sample test. If the second part of the original sample results in a positive then the test results are upheld as positive and the employee receives no refund for payment of the second part of the original sample. If the second part of the original sample tests negative, then the employee will be refunded all costs paid for the second part of the original sample.
