Establishment of Seniority. 5.3.1 Seniority, for purpose of transfer, where multiple employees have the same seniority date, shall be determined in the following manner: 5.3.1.1 By November 1 each year the Parties will meet to establish the “Yearly Random Alphabet” which shall be the 26 letters of the alphabet, drawn at random, alternating MDEA then MDUSD. The District shall publish the Yearly Random Alphabet to all bargaining unit members by November 2 each year. 5.3.1.2 For employees first rendering paid probationary service on the same day, seniority shall be determined by last name using the Yearly Random Alphabet.
