Please note that imputed means that a series of logical edits, as well as an imputation process to account for missing data, have been performed on the variable. The total sum of payments and 12 sources of payment variables are named in the following way: The first two characters indicate the type of event: IP - inpatient stay OB - office-based visit ER - emergency room visit OP - outpatient visit HH - home health visit DV - dental visit OM - other medical equipment RX - prescribed medicine For expenditure variables on the IP file, the third character indicates whether the expenditure is associated with the facility (F) or the physician (D).
